Rollerblading in Paris
Spring 2003

Every friday night, parisian roller skaters gather for a 3 hours long tour of Paris. In the summer, there can be as many as 25,000 people.

This is really something to experience.. The sound of the thousands of wheels on the asphalt, the sight of so many people around you going so fast, yet strangely barely moving relative to you, and the lights of Paris by night all conspire to make this event an exhilarating one.

Be sure to check out the Pari Roller association website if you're interested in participating. The "rando" happens all year round (unless it is raining), and is pretty safe as long as you take a few precautions (like not going too fast for your abilities, and wearing protections). In fact, the event is even authorized by the police, and cars are stopped at intersections until the skaters have passed (this can sometimes take over thirty minutes and the look on the poor drivers' faces is in itself worth it ;-) ).

The video features my friends Hollow (skating with me) and Jason, who I was lucky enough to spot on the side of the road while the event was taking place. This wasn't planned, and we were quite happy about this stroke of luck!
