Estibere Lakes
July 2007

Near the end of July 2007, My nephew Kevin, his friend Chris and I went on a trek to the Estibere lakes (we walked by 6 of them). We slept on the shores of the "Lac de l'Ile" (Island lake, 2278m), a relatively small body of water with a little island full of trees in its center. Gorgeous. We made a beautiful fire and enjoyed a great night.

Our campsite at dusk.

The night is falling, revealing the planet Jupiter above a gibbous moon.

Sitting by a warm fire, the hard walk of the day is almost forgotten.

Early the next morning. Can you spot the lake ?

The "Col d'Aumar". This is the highest point of our trek (2381m). The little peak on the right doesn't look like much, but still reaches 2503m.

The Aumar Lake (2197m), with its beautiful blue, green and red tints.

The Oredon Lake (1856m). Behind and above it, the "Lac de Cap de Long" (2161m), about 3 times larger, but we can only see its dam from our point of view.

The "Col d'Estoudou" (2260m) bringing us back to the "Lac de l'Oule"
