My Makhila

This christmas, my family offered me a Makhila, a traditional Basque walking stick. It really is a work of art, so I thought I'd share some pictures.

It was made by the Bergara family, one of the last, if not the last traditional maker of makhilas, and I'm immensely proud of owning one.

My motto on the handle reads "Zure Bidetik Ez Baztertu", which roughly translates to "Do not stray from your path".
